Eric Nyarko

Eric Nyarko is an accomplished development practitioner with over 20 years of professional experience in community development, sustainable livelihoods, organizational leadership and programme management across Ghana. As Executive Director of Bees for Development Ghana, I provide strategic leadership to advance sustainable beekeeping as a pathway for environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, climate resilience and inclusive economic development. Throughout my career, I have successfully designed, managed, and supervised multi-sectoral programmes in agriculture, natural resource management, livelihoods, health, education, water and sanitation (WASH), governance and social protection. He has extensive experience working with government institutions, development partners, civil society organisations, community-based organisations, traditional authorities and rural communities to deliver sustainable and community-led development initiatives. I am generally recognised for my expertise in strategic planning, partnerships development, advocacy, community mobilisation, participatory programme design, monitoring and evaluation and institutional capacity strengthening. He has mobilised communities across Ghana, trained community facilitators, local leaders and supported the development of numerous community-based organisations to improve local ownership and sustainability. Prior to joining Bees for Development Ghana, I have served in several senior leadership positions, including Programmes Director, Director of Development, Deputy Executive Director, Project Manager and Programmes Coordinator, where I have successfully led donor-funded programmes supported by organisations such as USAID, DANIDA, the European Union, Irish Aid, UNICEF, UNDP, the World Bank, African Development Bank, WaterAid, HelpAge International and the Government of Ghana. As Executive Director, I am committed to positioning Bees for Development Ghana as a leading organisation promoting sustainable apiculture that improves rural livelihoods while conserving ecosystems. He champions innovative approaches that empower women, youth and vulnerable communities through beekeeping enterprise development, climate-smart agriculture, value chain development and market access. Under his leadership, the organisation continues to strengthen partnerships with government, private sector, research institutions and international development partners to expand the impact of beekeeping as a catalyst for poverty reduction and environmental sustainability.
